    Responsibilities

    • Update and maintain Actuarial models used to produce reserves for a variety of product lines
    • Anticipate impacts from model or assumption changes and analyze results effectively
    • Successfully communicate written results of model testing
    • Help design and implement process enhancements, including new technology tools
    • Utilize creative problem solving skills and thinking outside the box to simplify actuarial models
    • Challenge the status quo when developing model efficiencies
    • Periodically review model approximations and methodologies; recommend and initiate model changes as needed for model development
    • Work closely with Finance, Accounting, and Reporting actuaries to explain impacts of model changes
    • Effectively collaborate with others and leverage resources as necessary in order to drive the team toward completion of goals
    • Maintain thorough documentation of models and procedures
    • Respond to inquiries from, and provide explanations to, Senior Management and other departments
    • Develop strong understanding of Fixed Indexed Annuity products, including GAAP and STAT reserve methodologies
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Finance
    • ASA or near ASA
    • 3+ years of related experience, preferably with annuity products
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently while showing strong ownership and accountability of projects
    • Adaptable and capable of working on many projects simultaneously while managing one’s time
    • Demonstrate eagerness and curiosity to learn and develop
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the company, both written and verbal
    • Maintain high standards of performance
    • Advanced Excel, Access and programming skills
    • Experience with PolySystems is preferred
