    The Fidelity and Crime Division is searching for an Underwriter Trainee for the Boerne, Texas office.  Fidelity & Crime products include employee dishonesty, forgery, theft, and computer fraud for financial institutions, governmental entities and mercantile based accounts.


    The person hired for the position will learn the skills needed in order to market, underwrite, and produce profitable business on a national basis in accordance with Company objectives and policies.  


    • Production: Responsible for an assigned book of business in which account information is evaluated, underwritten and priced within authority guidelines.  Has responsibility for complex risk selection / rejection, retention, growth and profitability within scope of authority and per divisional objectives.
    • Customer Service: Maintains a high level of customer service. Communicates directly with Agents and Brokers to develop and maintain strong relationships. Promptly issues quotes, policies and endorsements.
    • Profitability: Evaluates assigned book of business to maintain department profitability. Evaluates new agents and brokers potential for new business. Orders and analyzes miscellaneous business reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes, including credit checks, bank agreements, financial statements and underwriting surveys. 
    • Will travel occasionally to meet face-to-face with agents and brokers. 
    • Other duties as assigned. 


    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 months to 3 years of business experience.
    • Insurance experience is a plus.
    • High level of organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency in PC based programs and Microsoft Office.
    • Must be open to travel up to 30% of the time, including some overnight travel.
