    The Alternative Markets Division offers agents and clients a variety of risk-sharing and traditional insurance options that support both specialty niche programs as well as generalist business. Our captive capabilities includes Agency, Association and Group captives. Our Elite Program model provides a guaranteed cost, multi-line program solution without the requirement of risk-sharing. Alternative Markets coverages include Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto, Property and Inland Marine. We have both BOP and commercial package options.

    We are seeking to add a Senior Production Underwriter to our team that will be located in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters.


    • Accountable for profitability results and premium growth within assignments.
    • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal coworkers and agency partners.
    • Collaborates with Underwriting, Product Development, Claims, Information systems and other business partners for implementation of new / revised products and supporting service
    • Analyzes coverage, pricing, limit requests, and risk quality using independent judgement in accordance with divisional guidelines.
    • Uses independent judgment and initiative to support business/program goals.
    • Serves as referral underwriter and technical resource to agency partners as assigned.
    • Serves as key contact for agency management in developing, implementing, communicating and monitoring program initiatives in accordance with divisional guidelines.
    • Provides training as necessary for agency partners.
    • Participates in program underwriting audits as assigned.
    • Analyzes, interprets, reports, and provides recommendations on assignments and prospective program business.  
    • Reports monthly on assignments.
    • Travels around the country to various agency offices and tradeshows.
    • Maintains high level of customer service.


    • Bachelor’s Degree or 5 – 10 years of commercial underwriting experience or equivalent work experience. Excess and Surplus Lines experience is a plus.
    • Experience in Commercial Specialty Programs preferred.
    • Must have multi-line underwriting experience.
    • Must have strong communication skills to build excellent agency partner relationships.
    • Must have strong hands-on experience with various computer systems including rating systems, MS Word and Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
    • Completion of or progression toward Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is a plus
