Risk Solutions writes mostly non-admitted business, partnering with leading wholesalers. We focus on a specialized solutions for a diverse market.

     

    We are looking for an experienced coverage attorney to serve as Risk Solutions’ “point person” for coverage determinations, coverage and premium-audit litigation, and policy-drafting projects. The position will focus on losses in a nationwide book of surplus lines business, including primary and excess claims under commercial general liability (CGL) and other policies. This position is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

    Responsibilities

      • Investigates and maintains claims.
      • Assigns cases to outside counsel and manages claims-related engagements and litigation.
      • Works closely with adjusters and claim managers to analyze coverage issues and draft coverage correspondence.
      • Works closely with counsel in Corporate Claims and Corporate Legal.
      • Develops, prepares and implements Claims Litigation strategy, including effecting settlements / reserves within prescribed authority.
      • Works toward the resolution of claims files and attends arbitrations, mediations or trials as necessary, but is not attorney of record.
      • Must be open to travel, including overnight travel as needed.
      • Ensures compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory and regulatory bodies.
      • Provides technical advice to lower level positions and other functional areas.
      • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

      • Must have a JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law. 
      • 6+ years of commercial coverage experience is required.
      • Superior communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
      • Significant litigation experience is required.
      • Experience drafting insurance- and coverage-related correspondence is required.
      • Prior policy-drafting experience is preferred but not required.
