Great American is currently seeking a Claim Trainee for our Corporate Claims Office in Cincinnati, OH. Great American's Claims Trainee Program is our foundation program geared toward candidates who have the desire to receive claims specific training and knowledge, laying a strong foundation for a career in insurance.


    Our Claim Trainee Program develops the fundamental skills required of a successful claim professional. Claims Trainees learn to perform the required analysis, investigation and claim handling functions, enabling them to make appropriate recommendations concerning claims management and ultimate resolution.  The Claims Trainee program includes a combination of activities aimed at giving the trainee a full understanding of the claim department and how it interacts with other functions within the organization.


    The program includes networking and mentoring, as well as professional development and assignments including: 

    • Business unit rotations within Great American Insurance Group that involve claim handling, job shadowing and special assignments
    • Earning the preeminent claims designation, the Associate in Claims, from The Institutes
    • Various reading assignments and self-study courses on a diverse range of insurance topics, providing a foundation of claims and general insurance knowledge
    • Learn and perform functions utilizing the various claims systems and programs
    • Participation in Great American University and Claim College seminars and workshops
    • Participation in Toastmasters to develop communication and public speaking skills

    Successful candidates in the past have come to Great American with 1-2 years of experience in a variety of industries including the medical field, construction, restoration, the legal profession, customer service, and retail management. 


    • Completion of Bachelor's degree  
    • 3.5 preferred GPA, with a 3.0 minimum GPA for consideration  
    • Proven work track record through internships, co-ops or other business work experience
    • Proven leadership through extracurricular activities and civic involvement
    • Strong critical, analytical and investigative skills
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
    • Law school and MBA graduates will be considered
