    Responsibilities

    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Participate in and lead an Analytics team responsible for analyzing data to assess trends, measuring claim outcomes, and recommending action plans.
    • Ensure the determination of requirements and project plans. Establishes priorities and ensures progress.
    • Has responsibility for performance, development and coaching of staff (i.e. hiring, firing, performance management, salary, etc.). Ensure new members of the team / unit receive training.
    • Collaborate with members of underwriting, claims, and other teams to develop data analytics tools.
    • Perform data quality analysis to ensure accurate and complete data.
    • Manipulate data into standard formats for import into complex third party software.
    • Develop process documentation to provide on-going support of analytic data.
    • Develop comprehensive knowledge of both business information data sources and business data rules.
    • Develop reports using Tableau and other tools deployed for use by Risk Solutions team members. 
    • Develop and maintain predictive models for pricing, underwriting, and claim adjusting.
    • Communicate results and recommendations to department management and company management.
    • Train and guide both new and experienced data analysts.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Skills:

    • Firm grasp of data warehouse concepts, including an understanding of front-end data entry and back-end data consumption.
    • Ability to read and decipher data models.
    • Knowledge of relational database tools (i.e. SQL, Microsoft Access, etc.)
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to comfortably communicate with all levels of employees, including executive leadership
    • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize, and plan work
    • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
    • Ability to define and lead best practices around process and business analysis tools
    • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance coverages and concepts a plus
    • Knowledge of actuarial science a plus
    • Experience in communicating business requirements to IT is a plus
    • Experience with analytic presentation software (Tableau, Power BI, Etc.).

     

    Education and Experience:

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
    • Field of Study: Predictive Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or a related discipline
    • Experience: 5 or more years of experience; exhibits leadership qualities.
    • Scope of Job: Has responsibility for a single large team or multiple teams. May have lower level leadership levels as direct reports. Formulates and administers approved policies throughout the organization.
