    The Property and Inland Marine Division (P&IM) writes policies in all 50 states and has more than 2,000 independent agents offering our coverages.  Our broad range of products include Commercial Property, Builders’ Risk, Contractor’s Equipment, Excess Property, Transportation / Cargo, Electronic Data Processing (EDP), and Difference in Conditions policies (DIC).

     

    P&IM is currently searching for a Senior Claim Representative to investigate, evaluate and settle commercial property, inland marine, and motor truck cargo claims. The person hired for this position can work from either our Cincinnati Corporate Headquarters or from our office in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Willingness to travel, including overnight travel as needed, is required.  

     

    Responsibilities

    • Confirms and evaluates coverage and/or liability on low to medium exposure cases.  Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e. expert reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statement, and other necessary documentation) in the investigation of claims.
    • Works toward the resolution of claims, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary. 
    • Affects settlements and reserves within prescribed time limits and submits recommendations to management on cases exceeding personal authority. 
    • Conveys moderately complex information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor. 
    • Ensures that claim payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience handling property claims.  Commercial property is preferred. Inland Marine experience is a plus. Motor Truck Cargo experience is highly regarded.
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of insurance coverages, investigative techniques and commercial property claims experience. 
    • Must have a strong working knowledge of PCs, computer software and commonly used insurance concepts, practices, and procedures. 
    • This position requires a high skill level in planning and organization, as well as written and verbal communications. 
    • Bachelor's degree and/or AIC, CPCU, SCLA, and other insurance related designations are highly regarded. 
    • Ability to manage and control independent adjusters, experts and outside counsel as necessary.
