    The Professional Liability Division offers non-medical service providers protection from claims alleging an act, error or omission by the firm, its staff, or contractors working on its behalf.

     

    The Professional Liability Division is currently searching for a Senior Claim Specialist.  This position will be based out of our midtown New York City office or Exton, PA office. 

    Responsibilities

    • Investigates, evaluates and adjusts large sized Financial Products (Surety, Fidelity, Crime, Credit, Political, Directors & Officers, etc.) claims.
      • Reviews and evaluates coverage and / or liability.
      • Secures necessary information (i.e., reports, bonds, credit limits, policies, appraisals, releases, statements or other documents) to assist in the investigation of claims.
      • Retains and directs approved consultants and outside counsel. Responsible for maintaining cost controls and overseeing the work of outside counsel.
      • Determines available avenues of recovery and their cost-effectiveness; coordinates approved recovery effort.
      • Establishes and maintains proper loss, salvage and subrogation reserves.
    • Prepares periodic claims reports and financial evaluations.
    • Affects settlements / reserves within prescribed limits and submits recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
    • Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Ensures compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory and regulatory bodies to comply with all company procedures and requirements.
    • As directed, may assist Underwriting, Marketing, Risk Management and Loss Prevention with projects, including evaluating potential new business.
    • Retains and directs approved consultants and outside counsel. Responsible for maintaining cost controls and overseeing the work of outside counsel.
    • Leads the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates and reviews assignments).
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 3 plus years of related experience. May possess LLM (Master's of Law) or JD (Juris Doctorate) and current attorney license with 3 to 5 years of post-bar claims handling experience.
    • Must be open to 10-15% travel, including some overnight travel as needed.
    • Works on moderate to highly complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in breadth and / or depth within Professional Liability claims.
