    • Provides direction for multiple application development teams building complex underwriting and policy administration systems 
    • Mentors developers on development best practices and standards 
    • Analyzes end-to-end application performance against defined service levels 
    • Leads analysis and problem solving activities with application, environment, and performance-related issues 
    • Participates in Build and Deployment Automation
    • Assists in time estimates and schedule for project deliverables
    • Other development and application tasks as assigned



    • Experience in defining and utilizing frameworks and blueprints for large scale development efforts
    • Must have very strong development skills, including the ability to perform hands-on development for complex Java and .NET applications 
    • Strong experience in developing modern enterprise web applications including front-end client and back-end server-side solutions 
    • Experience in agile software development practices, continuous integration, and test driven development 
    • Experience with application profiling and performance monitoring toolsets
    • 10 years object-oriented design and development of n-tier applications experience in multiple languages and related technologies: Java, .NET (C#), and Web Services at a minimum
    • Firm understanding of Web Service concepts and Internet technologies: WSDL, XSD, XML, REST, and JSON
    • Must have excellent problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis, for large-scale applications in a distributed SOA environment 
    • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills

     Required Target Technical Skills:

    • Expert-level Java & .NET (C#) development skills
    • Hands-on experience with Open Source Frameworks: Spring, Apache Commons, etc.
    • Hands-on experience with Front-End Web Technologies:  HTML5, JavaScript, CSS
    • Hands-on experience with Front-End Frameworks, such as AngularJS, Ember, Backbone, React, etc.
    • Hands-on experience with .NET frameworks such as WCF, Entity Framework, and WebAPI
    • Hands-on experience with dynamic programming languages, such as Groovy, Python, Ruby, etc.
    • Hands-on experience with relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server (NoSQL a plus)
    • Application Server Configuration and Tuning:  Apache, Tomcat, JVM tuning, and IIS
    • Performance Analysis and Troubleshooting, such as Dynatrace, Introscope, YourKit and New Relic
    • Continuous Integration and Build Management Experience: Hudson/Jenkins, Maven, Git, and TFS
    • Servers:  Linux (Redhat) and Windows-based


    • Bachelor’s degree or related experience
