    Our Equine Mortality division in Lexington, KY is looking for an Underwriting Analyst to join the team.



    • Administers and monitors underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations to review, underwrite and document new and renewal policy transactions, within authority.
    • Reviews underwriting requirements and analyzes individual risk pricing for new business submissions and renewals against template expectations, and makes appropriate changes within authority.
    • Reviews paperwork and / or applications for signatures, dates and other considerations to ensure that coverage may be issued. Verifies coverage limits, performs necessary calculations and completes other checks before processing policies.
    • Refers applications or endorsement requests for further underwriting analysis when above authority limits.
    • Monitors entry / processing to ensure data integrity and to avoid potential systemic issues.

    Agency Relations:

    • Develop and foster close working relationship with agents.
    • Communicates with agents to obtain information needed to underwrite risks, respond to questions, address issues and general correspondence.
    • May provide guidance and assistance to agents. May participate in developing training curriculum and / or training agents and their staff.

    Performs other duties as assigned.


    Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
    Field of Study: Equine Science, Equine Business, Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.
    Experience: Knowledge of the Equine Industry with preferable hands-on experience with horses. 

            1 to 3 years of Property & Casualty Insurance experience a plus.
