    The Alternative Markets Division of Great American Insurance Group is a leader in the development of long-term, profitable captive partnerships with agents, associations, and large accounts (via group or single entity captive structures).  We are also building non-captive program partnerships with retail agents who have distinguished themselves as experts in a particular class or industry.

     

    Alternative Markets is currently searching for a Claim Operations Technician I / II who will support the Claims Department and develop the specialized skills and knowledge related to processing of claims.

    Responsibilities

    • Learns to perform claims processing and payment functions on basic claims for one or more lines. Performs claims support functions.
    • Composes, prepares, reviews and responds to correspondence.
    • Answers and responds to inquiries and gathers information.
    • May perform mail / file functions. Utilizes the company system(s) to identify the appropriate recipient of correspondence within or outside of the company. Sorts and distributes mail.
    • Maintains / purges documents according to record retention guidelines and distributes files / file systems.
    • Performs general operations support.  May include updating manuals and correspondence.
    • May assist with claims numbers, claims setup and entry, electronic imaging or indexing, statistical coverage verification, preparation / entry of claims transactions, preparation / processing recovery and processing drafts and forms.
    • May perform systems auditing, including determining errors / corrections on claims system(s) and / or policies.
    • Prepares, orders and maintains records, reports, registers and schedules.
    • Updates claim files and maintains, corrects and / or updates data using office technology.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a High School Diploma and 2 or more years of related experience. Additional education or technical training is a plus.
    • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.  Strong data entry skills.  Accuracy is very important in this position.
    • Strong customer service skills.  People oriented and willing to assist others.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and work simultaneously in multiple software systems.
    • Ability to work independently and react quickly to requests.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical skills for problem solving.
