The P&C Corporate Claims Division consists of over 100 professionals who support Great American’s highly-diversified P&C claims operations across the world. The division’s functional teams include Claims Practices, Claims Counsel, Claims Support Services, Claims Resolution Services and Legacy Claims. The Claims Resolution Services group is a full claim handling operation providing claim handling support to run-off or discontinued lines of business, new start-up divisions or lines of business, and serves as an “internal TPA” to assist divisions with current lines of business.


We seek a Claim Representative / Senior Claim Representative to join the Claims Resolution Services team. Candidates should have a minimum of 1-4 years of insurance claims handling experience. We seek a self-starter with a willingness and ability to cross train in multiple lines of business and become licensed in all states that require an adjuster’s license. In addition, effective written, verbal and listening skills are required, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  This position reports to the Claims Resolution Services Claim Supervisor.


  • Investigates and maintains claims. 
  • Reviews and evaluates coverage and / or liability. 
  • Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records or other documents) in the investigation of claims. 
  • Works toward the resolution of claims files, and attends arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences or trials as necessary. 
  • May affect settlements / reserves within prescribed authority and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority. 
  • Conveys information (coverage, recommendations, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations. 
  • Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.  
  • Minimum of 1 to 4 years of related experience.  Litigated claims handling experience is a plus. 
  • Willingness to cross train in multiple lines and become licensed in all states requiring an adjuster’s license is a necessity. 
  • Effective written, verbal and listening communication skills. 
  • Exceptional customer service skills. 
  • Detail orientated and strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to build and maintain productive business relationships.
