Here’s what we do. We insure workers’ compensation coverage for large companies, using our deductible program. Our service in claims and loss control is second to none. We’ve found that a large majority of our customers feel the way our employees do. Our renewal retention is 90+%, meaning our customers don’t want to leave us either!

Here’s what you would be doing if hired for the position.  The Underwriting Associate provides support to the underwriting staff; mainly gathers information on new and renewal business and change requests to support the underwriters’ decision making process. Organizes the underwriting information to speed decision making on the part of the underwriter.  Performs work related to risk selection, rejection, pricing, retention, growth and profitability per divisional objectives. Learns to develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers and coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business.


  • Develops underwriting analyses for renewal quotations
  • Prepares new business quotes as directed by underwriter
  • Prepares coverage binders and premium and fee billings for all policies
  • Investigates discrepancies in the information gathered
  • Coordinates flow of required documents and information among insureds, agents, and carriers
  • Requests and coordinates annual payroll audits for all policies
  • Communicates with carrier, agents, auditors, and insureds, as well as company loss control, claims and accounting personnel
  • Documents and maintains electronic policies and other underwriting files


  • Associate’s degree or business equivalent
  • 2+ years related business experience
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment, in particular Excel, and be technologically savvy and data driven
  • Must possess strong math skills, be a logical thinker and be very organized
