The Alternative Markets Division of Great American Insurance Group is a leader in the development of multi-line commercial programs and captive partnerships with agents, associations, and groups. The Division also has a growing cyber risk operation.

Alternative Markets is currently searching for a Marketing Representative to support our suite of product offerings.


  • Assist with identifying and vetting new business opportunities for all products offered
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret, explain and market products and services 
  • Demonstrates the ability to listen to, identify and understand customer needs
  • Builds partnerships with all areas of the business to address account issues and ensure service needs are being met (Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Loss Control, etc.)
  • Participates in preparing materials for new prospect marketing presentations
  • Gather, analyze and maintain frequent competitive information related to programs and associations and share internally as appropriate
  • Attend industry conferences and build a network of business contacts.
  • Collaborate with corporate marketing to produce creative and effective marketing communication materials and videos. 
  • Review new program contracts for approval. 
  • Participate in on-boarding new programs including coordinating the underwriting, marketing, agency relationship, claims, IT/automation.
  • Refers incoming business to other divisions as appropriate


  • 2 to 5 years of property and casualty insurance experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prior program sales or underwriting experience preferred
  • Strong critical, analytical and investigative skills
  • Prior experience with marketing strategies using social & digital media outlets
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) with the ability to learn additional software programs is a plus
  • Continuing education in insurance courses is encouraged, which could include Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Program in General Insurance (INS), Associate of Risk Management (ARM) and/or International Center of Captive Insurance Education…(ICCIE)


Scope of Job:
Performs work under moderate supervision and technical direction. Demonstrates technical knowledge with moderately complex assignments.  Uses communication skills to build and leverage effective customer relationships and to explain/promote products and services with the objective of increasing market share within the program space and developing a national presence with some of the larger, national organizations and associations.  Expected Travel: 30%
