The purpose of this position is to serve as a liaison between the Annuity Group business units (Actuarial, Finance, Marketing, etc.) and Data Management in IT for data related initiatives.  The person in this role must have the ability to understand the needs of the business units and to translate these needs into technical specifications that can be used by data architects and developers to deliver solutions to meet those needs. The person in this role also needs the ability to participate in the testing and validation of these solutions. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a liaison between the Annuity Group business Units, technical staff and subject matter experts to understand business issues, trouble shoot problems and recommend and develop efficient and effective solutions
  • Work with the business, actuaries and IT teams to establish both short and long-term goals and develop action plans to attain those goals
  • Gather and document end user requirements for data, reports and analysis, data quality and performance
  • Perform data analysis and validation to ensure the data is consistent with the business requirements
  • Collaborate with the Data Management team to arrive at high quality technical solutions that meet the business requirements
  • Work with project managers and development teams to ensure solutions are delivered in a timely manner in accordance with business expectations
  • Build strong relationships with both, customer and IT teams, and encourage a relationship of trust and partnership between them
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of data sources and business rules

Qualifications

  • 5 + years of related experience
  • Previous experience in the insurance or financial services industry desired
  • Experience using SQL required
  • Understanding of Data Management concepts and practices
  • Knoweldge of actuarial practices, products and concepts preferred
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with department staff, other company employees, and contacts outside the company
  • Ability to organize and plan work to satisfy established timeframes
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be self-motivated and take initiative
  • Ability to perform work under minimal supervision

*The job level for this position will depend on the candidate’s experience and skill set.
