Great American's Trucking Division offers a nationwide program that specializes in insuring the unique exposure of the For Hire Trucker. Our program focuses on the owner operator and small fleet markets, and we’re proud to serve the long haul trucking industry with insurance products and services dedicated to the success of the Owner-Operator.


The Trucking Division is currently searching for a Product Manager who will oversee the overall business strategy for product, including premium volume growth and profitability results within the product lines.    


  • Manages and updates strategic plans, leads the annual business planning process and determines reinsurance strategy for each product.

    • Coordinates the work activities within the group.
    • Advises personnel on product guidelines and provides guidance as necessary after reviewing files.
    • Ensures that appropriate reports are available and appropriately used for monitoring product performance.
    • Coordinates receipt of pricing and underwriting information. Assists with presentations to prospective clients.
  • Obtains regulatory approval of product; manages filing process and ensures compliance with statutory requirements.
  • May assist in reviewing coverages with the departments. Working with claim reporting procedures with Claims or Account Managers on coverage issues and procedural issues.
    • Interacts with relevant departments such as Claims, Underwriting, Sales/Marketing, and provides customer service support (i.e. agents, regulators and industry groups).
    • May lead or participate in business unit, compliance, claims, agency, program reviews and audits (i.e. compliance audits, rate/pricing reviews, and agency reviews.
  • Reviews and assists in design of procedures, service manuals and product materials.
  • Leads in the development of training and communication materials and provides training as necessary on product/rate changes for staff, field, and agency personnel.
  • Promotes and may lead product knowledge and product positioning with the field, agency personnel and customers.
  • May lead and / or partner with the IT department on prioritization, implementation and enhancements of operational systems to ensure production capabilities are both effective and efficient.
  • Has responsibility for the performance, development and coaching of staff (hiring, firing, performance management, pay increases, etc.). Provides training for new members to the team / unit.
  • Participates in planning and ensures that the unit meets budget and performance targets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of related business/work experience in the commercial insurance business plus a mandatory minimum of 3 years management experience. Commercial auto experience is required; experience in the trucking segment is preferred. Additionally, we will rely on the candidate's strong math, communication, critical thinking, and computer skills.
  • May be in the process of obtaining or may have already completed certification in area of expertise; appropriate certifications could include Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Program in General Insurance (INS), Associate of Risk Management (ARM), or other applicable designations.
