Great American's Bond Division has been underwriting surety and fidelity bonds for over 90 years. With a highly diverse product line, Great American is one of the top surety companies in the United States. The Bond Division is currently seeking a Senior Underwriter for our Rockland, MA office. 

Responsibilities

  • This individual will be responsible for underwriting and producing profitable contract surety bond business within the territory 
  • Responsible for risk selection, rejection, pricing, retention, growth and profitability within scope of authority and per divisional objectives
  • Daily tasks include extensive risk assessment and daily communication with customers. We will rely upon your ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers / coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business
  • Meets with producers and principals in order to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships and develop new opportunities in support of divisional objectives
  • Interprets, explains and markets products and services.
  • Applies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of contract surety underwriting standards is preferred, but candidates with credit analysis experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Advanced knowledge of finance and economic principals.
  • Knowledge of accounting and credit.
  • Must be open to travel up to 20% of the time, including some overnight travel as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
