Best for over 100 years, and is one of only five property and casualty insurers to do so.

We are currently seeking a Compliance Filing Manager for our Los Angeles office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees compliance filing decisions made by members of the team / unit.
  • Oversees the work activities within the unit.
  • Responsible for day-to-day work and procedures. Assigns and checks work.
  • Advises personnel on filing guidelines and provides guidance as necessary after reviewing filings.
  • Ensures filings are in accordance with company and state guidelines.
  • May coordinate the use of consultants for compliance and filing issues.
  • Ensures that department has current knowledge and record of files, fees, notice requirements, and approval procedures for state filing requirements.
  • Oversees all third party requests – department of insurance requests and subpoenas – for records regarding policy/contract forms.
  • Participates in and / or leads periodic audits as necessary to assure compliance with Company policies, practices and procedures.
  • May establish procedures and make recommendations or reports for senior management.
  • Ensures that the department is up to date on effective systems to perform filing submissions, research, audits, and other functions relating to compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in planning and ensures that the unit meets budget and performance targets.
  • Has responsibility for the performance, development and coaching of staff (hiring, firing, performance management, pay increases, etc.). Provides training for new members to the team / unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of related experience, exhibits leadership qualities. Has specialized underwriting/actuarial or law knowledge, which allows incumbents to answer Department of Insurance  inquires. May be in the process of obtaining or may have already completed certification in area of expertise; appropriate certifications could include:  Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Program in General Insurance (INS), or Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), Associate Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC), Certified Compliance Professional (CCP), and  Associate Compliance Professional  (ACP).
